Hi Bear makers, Welcome to the 172nd edition of the Teddy Web Gazette. To all our Australian customers we hope you enjoyed your long weekend and celebrated Australia Day in good spirit. ****************************************************
Following up with the new Synthetic fabrics we have placed our order with the factory. The delivery of the fabrics will now be around the end February beginning of March. There are 6 new fabrics and the return of 7 of the long pile synthetics such as Blue Moon / Spearmint / Peach Melba / Malted Milk / Antique Rose / Lilac Ice & Iced Pink. The quilting fraternity will be pleased to also see the return of Caramel Fudge which was probably our best selling fabric last year ! These felted bears were sent in by Sally Marshall of "Hawbeary Hug", Little Current, Ontario, Canada. Sally made these little hugs for Xmas last year and is now dyeing her own fabrics. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 1000th Copy of Needle Felting Magic Countdown Less than 25 copies to go !
As mentioned in the last issue of the gazette we are counting down for the 1000th copy of Needle Felting Magic to be sold and remember the lucky buyer of that copy will not only get a signed copy but it will also be FREE and as a bonus will come with Barbara Allen's latest needle felting book , "The Ashford Book of Needle Felting" which I can assure you is one seriously fantastic book with 10 needle felting projects with complete illustrated instructions on each one and as the cover says : Stretching the Boundaries of Needle Felting" Below is a picture of the new book which will shortly be available from us for around the A$ 33.50 mark plus postage and packing . We are hopefull that it will be available within the next 2 weeks so please keep your eyes peeled on the book section of the website !!
COMPETITION TIME !! In conjuction with the publication of the book we have decided to spice it up a little and invite all our readers to get involved in our NEEDLE FELTING COMPETITION ! The idea of the competition is to find the best needle felted creations on the planet and to this end we invite all of you to send in pictures of your needle felting creations and to ensure proper assessment we have enrolled a panel of expert judges in the persons of Firstly Barbara Allen, the author of both books ,what does one need to say about Barbara that hasn't already been said by enthusiasts around the globe. Secondly, Narelle Hill of South Australia who produces some of the most incredible needle felting work you will see , you can check out some of her work on www.aussiefelts.com Thirdly and I suppose lastly, BUT most certainly not least, well known bear artist Patti Cavenett of Kympatti Bears, Patti has, to say the least, dabbled a touch in needle felting herself and has produced a number of patterns for this new and exciting craft. The competition will run for a 2 month period which should give all a chance to participate from 1st February until midnight 31st March AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time) which by then will be approximately 10 hours ahead of GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). There will be 3 prizes as follows: 1st prize will be AU$100.00 of felting supplies and a signed copy of Barbara's latest Book "The Ashford Book of Needle Felting 2nd prize will be AU$60.00 of needle felting supplies plus a signed copy of Barbara's book 3rd prize will be AU$40.00 of needle felting supplies plus a signed copy of Barbara's book We will publish pictures on each subsequent gazette for as long as the competition runs of as many entries as we can accommodate in order that all can see the hidden talents of so many of you ! Any form of needle felting will be accepted to be judged including bear faces . The 3 winners and their winning creations will be published in the closet gazette to that date All prizes are nett prizes and will therefore be posted off at no cost to the winners The rules are as simple as we can have them and will be strictly enforced for the benefit of all involved and are as follows 1) The Judges decision will be final 2) No correspondence will be entered into by either any of the judges or indeed the management of Beary Cheap as far as the judging element of the competition is concerned. 3) Any and all correspondence in connection with the competition must be directed to Beary Cheap only. No direct correspondence is allowed to any of the judges in connection with the competition. Any such correspondence brought to our notice will result in that person or persons being immediately disqualified from the competition. There will be no exceptions on this point! 4) The privacy of the judges is to be respected at all times and any person found to have breached such privacy shall be disqualified from the competiton. 5) It is expressly acknowledged by participation in the competition, that you acknowledge that The Law of Australia shall at all times be the governing law in connection with any disputes arising from the competition. Let us all hope that none of the above are required but by the same token it must be acknowledged that the possibility for disagreement always exists. Our judges are taking on this task voluntarily and there should be nothing other than gratitude and respect for them for so doing. Good Luck to all and may the best creation win!!
