Hi bear makers and welcome to the 158th edition of the Teddy Web Gazette. Unfortunately we have another delay on our order of the Mohair, much to our disappointment. We have been given another due date which we are not going to mention just in case there are more delays. We certainly will keep you posted as I know there are a lot of you just as excited as we are of the new colours and types, that are coming, the delay is all about the Alpaca which has been ordered for a few bear makers in particular, apparently the yarn comes from the UK and then goes to Germany where it is woven, Helmbold advise that they have been given various dates and have now been given a committment from the yarn supplier , the reason we dont want to give dates is that the we know Helmbold and indeed most of Europe are about to have their summer breaks and we have not had a 100% committment from them that it will be made and despatched to us before they close down in the second / third week of July, we are reliably informed that all the other mohair is ready to ship and have toyed with the possibility of doing 2 shipments but the costs involved in a second shipment which would be for 40 metres of fabric are, quite frankly, ridiculous , it would add upwards of $25 per metre to the landed cost and we could not ask anyone , particularly in the current economic climate to accept such an increase, so we will have to wait unfortunately, however if it looks like it is not going to happen prior to them closing we will have them ship the balance immediately. Further bad news I am afraid, which we know we could all do without, but is unfortunately unavoidable, is that of a postal charge increase, we have had discussions with Australia Post and in view of a number of inflationary factors including fuel prices they are reviewing their rates and with effect from July1st (yes next week Tuesday!) local postage rates will increase by 3,5% and overseas postage by 7,5% , we will have to adjust rates accordingly and hope that you all understand that this is a matter which is out of our control , they did want more, but after much negotiation we have managed to keep it to a below inflation increase for local postage and probably more in line with inflation from an international perspective. On a more positive note , we have just received a new consignment of plastic joints, so lots of stock avalable there and also a new hat has been added to the range. In the coming week or two we are expecting deliveries of safety eyes,eyelids,soft noses de-luxe saftey eyes,T pins, copic pens and more English de luxe eyes, this lot together with what we have received in the last 2 weeks (and the mohair when it finally gets here!)should enable us to be in a position to be able to fulfill literally every order without delay and once we have finalised our selection on some new synthetic fabrics we should just about be fully stocked of everything you will require to make your bear and soft toy creations !
