It's a "little" boy!!!!
"Naji" has arrived!
Here it is.... the news we've all been waiting for. Our very own "Beary Cheap Moon Bear" - "Naji"
has finally arrived at the Animals Asia Bear Rescue Center in Chengdu, China.
We received an email from Jill Robinson a few days ago which read .....
| "Dear Cindy and Derek and all in your team
Just this week a sad little cub joined us. Barely 8 months of age but much smaller than he should weigh, this little mite has been looked after by a poor rural farmer and his wife for the past few months. They were hoping to make money from showing him as a tourist attraction but their plans went to pieces when they realised that they didn't have the funding to build a proper facility and when the cub decided that he'd show them who's boss and became too boisterous to handle."
"There is no doubt in my mind that he would have ended up on a bear farm if we hadn't agreed to take him in and so, before I offer to anyone else, and knowing you're hopeful for a Christmas bear, would you like him to be yours....a bear called Naji? He's an absolute poppet - I was watching him today as he wrestled with some straw, confidence growing in just two short days and kicking his little back legs into the air as if he owned the world. This little guy also has a Chinese name - Hei Mao (black cat)."

How could we refuse ..... As Jill points out in her email (above), this dear little bear
was destined to be sent to a bear farm & all the horrors that go with it.
Thanks to you all, "Naji" will now live a long & happy life at the sanctuary. Cubs are very rare
at the sanctuary & we have no doubt our little bear will be spoilt rotten!
& here it is.... the very first photo of "Naji"
shortly after his arrival at the Sanctuary.
According to Jill, "he has the sweetest crescent moon which "dribbles" into a line snaking down into his tummy.
I think he's going to be a real handful - he's already realised we're putty in his paws".
Thank you once again to all of you who contributed to saving "Naji". It's hard to believe we really have our very own bear.
What a wonderful Xmas present for us all!!

A Den for "Naji"
Don't forget we're still trying to raise enough money to build "Naji" his own Den at the sanctuary.
Now he's arrived, we need to work fast, so he has a comfortable "home" as soon as possible.
The cost to build a den for "Naji" is A$6,600.
