Beary Cheap customers will soon be the very proud sponsors of a Chinese Moon Bear.
Our bear will soon be rescued by the Animals Asia foundation from a life of cruelty & torture.
Your donations have enabled another bear to be put in safe hands & live the rest of his/her life in the safety
& the tender loving care of the Bear Rescue Center in Chengdu, China. Thank you.
Over the past 11 months, we have raised the amazing sum of A$12,800
which is the amount needed to look after a bear for the rest of its life.
We must say that we had a very generous donation from one customer which enabled us to reach our target.
That customer knows who she is... & she deserves a big thank you!

Cindy, presenting Jill Robinson (Founder of Animals Asia)
with our cheque for $12,800. A very proud moment !
Below is part of the email we received from Jill this week.
" Cindy... Excellent news. You and Derek and your whole team have worked so hard to achieve this....another bear free, because of you. It doesn't get much better than that. Am really pleased that you made your goal - you must be thrilled and so are we. Warmest wishes from all here in bearland - and those yet to come. .
Thank you for everything, as ever and take care, Jillx

What about our bear... you ask?
We spoke to Jill Robinson last week, & she informs us that there is currently a waiting list of people like ourselves, all waiting for their own bear. Jill has told us however, that she's almost certain we'll have a bear allocated
to us by the end of this year! This is great news & will be a fantastic
Christmas present for us all. So hang on everyone, "Naji" will be rescued soon!
Of course, as soon as we hear any further news, you'll be the first to know .

Here's what our money will do....

What now?.... How about a Den for our bear!
We've had many customers asking if we're going to try & raise funds to sponsor another bear.
Although this is a wonderful thought, we think that for the time being, we should try to make our
first bear "Naji" as comfortable as possible in his/her new home.
If you've lived for twenty years in a tiny cage, the great outdoors can be a daunting experience in the first few weeks of release.
A den gives these bears what they need most in the world - a safe and secure home and a place to run back to whenever they feel threatened or upset. Inside, they have friends to console them, food to reassure them and hanging basket beds
to dream their worries away, before facing the challenges of another new day.
The cost to build a den for "Naji" is A$4,600.
If we start raising funds now, we could be well on the way to providing
"Naji" with a den when he/she arrives at the sanctuary. We can do this too!!!!

A Tribute to Steve Irwin...
We were all shocked & saddened to hear of the tragic death of Steve Irwin on 4th September, 2006.
Steve's face was recognised worldwide as the "Crocodile Hunter", & his operations included Australia Zoo,
The Steve Irwin Conservation Foundation (now renamed Wildlife Warriors Worldwide), and International Crocodile Rescue.
Many of you may be unaware that Steve was a true friend of the Moon Bears, having visited the Animals Asia,
Moon Bear Rescue Sanctuary in February 2004 during a film shoot for New Breed Vets. Steve was utterly shocked
with the treatment of farmed bile bears and truly put his heart and soul into publicizing their plight.
As a tireless and passionate campaigner Steve did so much for so many animals across the world. He will be sorely missed
& remembered for his enthusiastic defence of all animals, his open mind and heart and his kindness.
We received an email from a customer this week, congratulating us on reaching our Moon Bear target.
She simply said "Steve would be proud"... .
